What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser to recognize it from one page to the next, or from one visit to the next. Similar technologies do the same job by other means, such as the browser’s local storage.

First-party cookies are stored under this site’s domain, even when a tool from another company sets them; third-party cookies are stored under that company’s domain, such as Google or Microsoft. Each section gives the name, who sets it, what it is for and how long it lasts.

02

What the Site Needs to Work

The site works fully without cookies: everything stored in your browser is set by the measurement and advertising tools in sections 03 to 06, and you can turn them off without losing any feature.

The map on the contact page loads from Google Maps only when you ask for it with its button. From that moment on, Google may use its own cookies under its own policy.

The Quickly Car Rental team and the people who manage the site may mark their own browsers with the qk_interno item (local storage) so their visits are not counted in the site statistics. It does not exist in a visitor’s browser.
03

Visit Measurement: Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4, from Google LLC, measures visits, pages viewed, where each visit comes from and the use of the contact buttons (WhatsApp, phone, email and maps). It sets these first-party cookies:

  • _ga: tells one browser from another to count visitors. It lasts up to 2 years; some browsers shorten it (Chrome, to 400 days).
  • _ga_CNQ5VVFY51: keeps the state of the current visit. It lasts up to 2 years; some browsers shorten it (Chrome, to 400 days).

Site Usage: Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity, from Microsoft Corporation, captures how the site is used through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replay, as described in section 07 of the Privacy Notice. It masks what you type in form fields inside your browser, before sending it.

It sets two first-party cookies and keeps one technical session item:

  • _clck: keeps the Clarity visitor ID and its preferences for this site, so later visits are attributed to the same visitor. It lasts 1 year.
  • _clsk: joins the pages you view into a single recorded session. It lasts 1 day.
  • _cltk (browser session storage): a technical item of the Clarity session. It is deleted when you close the tab.
  • Microsoft also uses cookies on its own domains, with the duration Microsoft sets: CLID (recognizes the first time Clarity saw this browser on any site that uses Clarity), MUID (identifies browsers that visit Microsoft sites; Microsoft uses it for advertising, analytics and operations), MR (tells whether MUID should be refreshed), ANONCHK (tells whether MUID is shared with an advertising cookie; Clarity always sets it to 0) and SM (syncs MUID across Microsoft domains).

Advertising: Google Ads

Google Ads, from Google LLC, records when a visitor who arrived from one of our ads contacts us, and allows our ads to be shown to people who have already visited the site. It uses this data:

  • _gcl_au (first-party cookie): links your visit to Google ads to measure the contacts they bring. It lasts 90 days.
  • _gcl_aw (first-party cookie): set only if you arrived from a Google ad; it keeps the reference of that click. It lasts 90 days.
  • _gcl_ls (browser local storage): an ad measurement item stored by the Google tag.
  • Google also uses cookies on its own domains, such as IDE on doubleclick.net (up to 24 months outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), to measure ads and show personalized advertising.

06

Google Tag Manager and the Google Tag

Google Tag Manager and the Google tag, from Google LLC, load the measurement and advertising tools described above on the site. The cookies stored are those of those tools.

07

Links to Other Sites

The WhatsApp, Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, Facebook and Instagram buttons open that company’s service. Their cookies are governed by each company’s policy and apply from the moment you open it.

08

How to Turn Them Off

You can turn off the measurement, site usage and advertising cookies at any time, and keep getting quotes and renting as usual:
