Someone looking for a camioneta here could be searching for four different vehicles: a passenger van to move a group, a pickup for cargo and work, a minivan for a family, or an SUV for a dirt road. All four fit the word, and none of them is great at what the others do. Start with how many are traveling and how much luggage they’re bringing: those two things almost always decide it.

When you have people to spare

It’s the most common reading of the word in Mérida: a passenger van with sliding doors and three rows of seats. The Family Van is for groups, and the Van 15 Pax is for large groups. It’s chosen based on people and luggage at the same time: if the group barely fits and also brings checked bags, it’s worth moving up a category. What documents do I need to bring when picking up the vehicle?

If you live in Mérida: a valid driver’s license issued in Mérida, your official ID or passport, and an electricity or water bill from the last 3 months, all three matching in name and address. If you are visiting: a valid driver’s license, your photo ID, your round-trip flights already booked, and the boarding pass for your arrival or departure. No security deposit and no credit card required, and you can cancel with no penalty.

Can I extend my rental if I decide to stay longer?
